A successful hunt for the king of the skies 🦅✨

Sitting quietly on the rocks by the edge of the loch, I watched a White-tailed Eagle perched on a small island in the distance. It was sharing the rocks with a group of basking seals and appeared to be feeding on something – possibly a fish it had just caught, or the afterbirth of a seal pup.

The scene was already incredible: the stillness, the wildlife, the raw beauty of the landscape. I had been observing eagle for a while, simply taking in the moment and the stunning view.

Then, without warning, the eagle took off – rising up into the air and flying directly towards me. As it passed overhead, I could clearly see a fish gripped tightly in its talons. It flew right above my head, massive and powerful; the sheer size of the bird was astonishing.

I managed to lift my camera just in time to capture a few frames before it disappeared into the distance. I am so pleased to have come away with a photograph of that moment, something that I will always treasure as a reminder of the exhilaration of an incredible, unexpected encounter.

It was one of those rare, unplanned moments where patience and quiet observation are rewarded with something unforgettable.
