Bull in the golden limelight

One marvellous misty morning made for some perfect shots. The lighting was spectacular, and I saw the potential for some lovely backlit photos. The image on the left is the original photograph I took; I find that it is rather dull and hazy, lacking contrast. When editing this image, I wanted to accentuate the golden rays of the winter sun, which showered the bull in a magnificent glow. To create this atmospheric composition, I used Abode Photoshop Lightroom to dehaze the image, in order to bring out the details of the bull and its surroundings. I then used colour temperature to introduce a warmer tone to my image, bringing out the golden highlights within the image, creating a gorgeous mystical appearance.
Say cheeseeeee

I was really pleased with the crystal-clear sharpness of the common darter atop of a broken branch against the blurred background within the original image (left).

To focus on the common darter, I zoomed in on the image, and it was then that I noticed the fantastic markings on its face, which resembled a smile.

I then had to decide between the image with the intricate wings intact, and a tighter crop to bring out the remarkable facial features. In the end I decided on the close-up shot shown on the left.
Swallow feeding time
While observing some beautiful swallows at dawn up in Northumberland, I noticed a young juvenile being fed by one of its parents, and I knew I just had to photograph this magnificent opportunity. The conditions were not the greatest due to the poor lighting that day, as well as the distance to the subject. I managed to make adjustment to brighten the image and remove the rather distracting telephone wire above. I believe I could have improved the shot if I had had a more powerful lens to fill the frame with the subject of interest. To sharpen the image a faster shutter speed may have benefitted, balanced with raising the ISO to compensate for the low light level, without the image becoming grainy.
